Great Lake Sworm Watch is a local non-profit civic organization whose purpose is to promote the development of programs and activities to preserve and reproduce a livable natural environment, protect the health of American residents, conduct educational activities, protect citizens’ environmental rights, participate in activities to protect nature, rationally use natural resources, and implement environmental policies in America.
The organization was founded in 2000 through a reorganization of the Society for the Greening of America and is the oldest environmental organization in the city. For a long time the Association has been actively engaged in propaganda and educational activities, contributing to environmental protection. The Association published promotional and scientific-popular literature, held exhibitions and competitions, mass environmental actions. In 2001 the Society was registered as an independent organization.
Today the Society plays a significant role in the social life of America, is actively involved in important city initiatives, cooperates with other citizens’ associations.
